Where is Wilderness Adventures located?

We are based in the Blue Mountains, approx. 90 minutes drive west of Sydney. Our principal guide Tim Williams is a fourth generation resident of the mountains and knows the area well.

Our base is centrally located in the town of Blackheath, but we operate across the Tablelands Region including in areas such as Katoomba, Glenbrook, Orange, Bathurst, Portland, Wallerawang, Oberon, Mudgee, Rylstone, Lithgow, Wentworth Falls, Springwood, Cowra and many more.


What’s included?

Quality equipment, tasty food, professional tour guides, licenses, entry permits and pretty much everything you need for action pack day of fun in the bush.

All you need is warm comfortable clothing, a rain jacket, hat, water bottle, any medication you need and foot wear that you are happy to get wet and dirty. If you have a waterproof camera feel free to bring it along.


Where do we start the tour?

That’s up to you! We can meet at the venue, a train station, or we can arrange to pick you up from your accommodation in the Mountains. We’ll discuss this with you when you make your booking.


What tour options are there?

Fishing Tours

Option 1) Full Day River Fishing Tours

Cast to wild trout, bass, cod, golden perch, carp and many other species along the winding waterways of the NSW Central Tablelands. Our expert guides will let you in on local secrets and help you gain the skills you need to bag a big one. Suitable for all skill levels from novice or expert.

Option 2) Full Day Wilderness River Fishing Expedition

Want to visit wild remote places where only the most daring fishermen dare venture. Our expert guides will take you off the beaten track so you can experience some of the most remote and beautiful fishing destinations available in NSW.  You need to be fit, agile and adventurous to enjoy these expeditions.

Option 3) Full Day Lake Fishing

The lakes and dams of the NSW Central Tablelands offer the most diverse freshwater fishing in Australia and are great places to learn to fish. Our guides will teach you the methods used to great success by local fishermen and

Option 4) Full Day Fishing Lake & River Combo

Get the best of both worlds and combine a half day of lake fishing with a visit to a nearby stream. Awesome!

Option 5) Half Day Fishing (Lake or River)

If you don’t have a full day available we are happy to run a half day tour which suits the hours you have available.

Option 6) Multi Day Wilderness Fishing Expedition - Pending NPWS approval

Visit the most remote and beautiful parts of the Blue Mountains on one of our challenging multi day expeditions. You’ll walk into remote wilderness where you can target fish that may not have seen a fisherman in their life. Fish the winter spawning run of trout into the rivers upstream of Lake Burragorang (Sydney's main water supply dam).

Please note that we do not enter the 3km exclusion zone around the dam, but we do fish the rivers close to the exclusion zone.

Option 7) Express Fishing Experience (approx. 2 hours)

Want to do make a splash then dash! Our tour hour tour might be for you. We run short fishing trips for individuals and large groups.


Bushwalking Tours

Option 1) Half & Full Day Bushwalks
Get off the tourist track and avoid the crowds. You’ll visit some of the most beautiful places imaginable. Our guides will walk you and talk you through local history, geology, flora and fauna. We’ll match the venue to your needs and ability.

Option 2) Overnight Wilderness Walking Expeditions
Our overnight expeditions run from one night, to as many as 10 days depending on the time you have available. Some of the famous landmarks we visit during our walks include Blue Gum Forest, Cox’s River, Kanangra Walls, Kowmung River, and Narrow Neck. Options available all year round!

Option 4) Navigation & Survival  Training
Do you want to improve your navigation skills? Would you like to learn to find yourself when you get lost? Do you know how to survive in the bush with nothing but the cloths on your back?

Option 5) Adventure Packages
Combine your Wilderness Adventure with another adventure such as canyoning, rockclimbing, horse riding or abseiling, as provided by our adventure tour partners.
